Silk in Murcia: ARACNE project and temporary exhibition dissemination at the local TV

On December 3rd 2024, the regional local TV network “Popular TV Región de Murcia” has interviewed the IMIDA team participating in ARACNE project, for their programme “En Origen”.


The interview took place at the temporary exhibition “La seda en Murcia: Entretejiendo Historia y Ciencia” (Silk in Murcia: Interweaving History and Science), at the Science and Water Museum of Murcia (Spain).

Ana Pagán presented the ARACNE project, as well as its main objectives, the European silk Route and the important role of silk in biotechnological research and the new non-textile appliarions of silk in the field of biomedicine that are being investigated at IMIDA.

The rest of the IMIDA team, showed and explained the pieces of scientific and technical equipment and objects related to sericulture displayed at the exhibition, emphasising on the history of silk in Murcia, its importance and tradition and how the IMIDA with the ARACNE project is involved in recovering and preserving the silk legacy in Murcia.

Finally, Manuel Erena presented the digitalization work carried out, the virtual maps and the web portal developed with all the information and contents being accessible for the general public on the following link: https://sigdata.imida.es/sericicola/.
