Silk in Murcia: ARACNE project and temporary exhibition dissemination at the local radio

On January 16th 2025, the regional local radio “Onda Regional de Murcia” has interviewed Ana Pagán, the responsible of ARACNE project at IMIDA (Spain), for their daily programme “Tarde Abierta”.

Ana Pagán presented the ARACNE project, as well as its main objectives. The central part of the interview was focused on the history of silk in Murcia, its importance and tradition and how the IMIDA is involved in recovering and preserving the silk legacy in Murcia, but concentrating on its future, developing an important role in biotechnological research and the new appliarions of silk in the field of biomedicine. As a researcher of the Biotechnology team of IMIDA, Ana Pagán explained the studies carried on with new silk biomaterials developed by her research team and the new non-textile applications of silk being investigated at IMIDA.
Finally, he disseminated the temporary exhibition “La seda en Murcia: Entretejiendo Historia y Ciencia” (Silk in Murcia: Interweaving History and Science), describing it and encouraging the public to visit it and learn more about the past and the future of silk in Murcia.
