On 11 May 2025, the regional public broadcaster 7TV Región de Murcia aired a news report highlighting the work carried out by the IMIDA team within the ARACNE project, as well as the dissemination activities linked to the temporary exhibition “La seda en Murcia: Entretejiendo Historia y Ciencia” (Silk in Murcia: Interweaving History and Science), hosted at the Science and Water Museum of Murcia.
The programme provided an overview of the project’s main objectives, the relevance of the European Silk Route, and the significant role of silk in both the historical heritage of the Region of Murcia and contemporary biotechnological research.
Members of the IMIDA team introduced various scientific instruments, historical materials, and sericulture‑related artefacts from the exhibition. They highlighted the longstanding silk tradition in Murcia, its cultural and economic importance, and the contribution of the ARACNE project to preserving and promoting this regional legacy.
The news segment also featured Marta López‑Briones, Director of the Science and Water Museum, who spoke about the deep historical importance of silk in Murcia and how this heritage is reflected in one of the exhibition’s most emblematic pieces: the mantle of the patron Virgin of the city, crafted with silk and displayed as part of the exhibition. Her contribution highlighted the cultural and symbolic value of silk within Murcian identity.
