On Friday, March 21, students from IIS Ferrari di Chiaravalle Centrale (CZ) had the opportunity to visit Padua. In fact, they won the school competition for the 2023-2024 academic year, in the framework of the educational project promoted by Aracne, section ‘Agricultural Landscape’.
During the day, the students explored the Esapolis Museum, accompanied by Dr Enzo Moretto and Dr. Silvia Cappellozza, who guided them through the collection dedicated to the silkworm.
To mark the occasion, CREA-AA director Giuseppe Corti gave a certificate of proficiency for the research carried out in the identification of the mulberry in the Calabrian territory to the professors and students; the event was kept in the “Ascoli collection’ room dedicated to the exhibition of cocoons from the central part of Italy and to silkworm anatomical models.
Subsequently, the visit continued at the CREA sericulture laboratory, where the students could closely observe the silkworms in the lab and mulberry trees in the experimental field.
This educational experience not only rewarded the students’ achievements but also provided a valuable opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the agricultural and artisanal heritage, thus contributing to an integrated and engaging learning experience.
Aracne continues to promote initiatives aimed at enhancing the connection between education and tradition, offering young people concrete tools to learn about and appreciate the world of silk and its evolution.
