Revitalising Sericulture in Veneto: New Training Courses by Cipat and CREA

The vocational training centre CIPAT, in collaboration with CREA, is organising a sericulture course for the 2025 year, with the support of the Veneto Region. This commitment ensures the continuity of an important action to relaunch the sericulture in this territory and at the same time it also establishes a connection with the Aracne project, thereby fostering collaborative efforts and leveraging resources for the advancement of these endeavours.

The course is titled: ‘Following the Thread of Aracne: Revitalizing the Italian Silk Supply Chain. RECENT DEVELOPMENTS and ONGOING ACTIONS for a EUROPEAN SERICULTURE CHAIN.’ This course will be held online on:

Tuesday, April 15 and April 29,
from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The course will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the Italian sericulture supply chain and its potential for development. It will address the recent Regional Law No. 06 of March 13, 2024, concerning the Veneto Silk Road.

Course Objectives

  • Provide an overview of the sericulture supply chain in Italy and the European collaborations of CREA-AA in Padua
  • Analyze the potential and development channels of the sector
  • Highlight the challenges and strategies for agricultural enterprises
  • Present upcoming actions to enhance fresh cocoon production in Italy

  • The Morus-Up project, funded by the Veneto Region (2025-2028) under the new CSR programming

Sericulture

  • The silkworm’s biological cycle and rearing techniques
