CREA at Agrimont Fair 2025 in Longarone

The CREA-Laboratory of Sericulture enthusiastically took part in the 44th edition of Agrimont, the Mountain Agriculture Fair, held in Longarone over the weekends of 15-16 and 21-23 March 2025.

At the stand of Veneto Agricoltura, in collaboration with the Veneto Region, CREA showcased an exhibition dedicated to silkworm farming. Visitors had the opportunity to closely observe silkworms, along with the traditional tools used for their rearing and for cocoon processing. This display offered a unique chance to rediscover and explore in greater depth a historic agricultural practice rooted in the Veneto region.

A significant contribution came from Cantiere della Provvidenza, a social cooperative committed to supporting employment for young people and vulnerable individuals, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. Since 2013, the cooperative has been engaged in silkworm farming projects, playing an active role in reviving the silk production chain in the province of Belluno.

On Saturday, 22 March, the fair hosted the conference ‘The Venetian Silk Road’, named after the regional law, issued in 2024. During the event, experts discussed the production and processing of silk cocoons in Veneto, considering prospects with a view towards Europe. Among the audience were students from the Antonio della Lucia Agricultural Institute in Feltre, who had the opportunity to learn about the educational projects designed for schools in the law, such as the creation of a register of mulberry trees in the Veneto region following the example of the MorusApp developed by the University of Maribor for the Aracne project.
