On Sunday, September 22, visitors will have the chance to experience something unique among the scenic Euganean Hills, exploring Villa Abate Barbieri Verson, a place filled with charm and culture that, among its treasures, preserves the memories of Professor Enrico Verson, a renowned scholar of silkworms.
The historic residence tells the story of the Verson family and the inspiring presence of the famous poet Giuseppe Barbieri. Walking through the garden, orchard, and vineyard, visitors will be immersed in a fascinating atmosphere where nature, art, and history intertwine, offering an in-depth encounter with the history of the place. On the Villa’s main floor, the tour continues through six elegant rooms with stucco decorations and frescoes, each revealing a unique aspect of the Verson family.
On this occasion, CREA’s Center for Research in Agriculture and Environment – Council for Agricultural Research and Agricultural Economics Analysis, represented by Dr. Silvia Cappellozza, Research Director of the Sericulture Laboratory in Padua, will contribute with an in-depth presentation on Professor Enrico Verson, who in 1871 became the first director of the Royal Sericulture Station of Padua. His scholarly achievements have come to light through research involving the archives of the Sericulture Laboratory in Padua and the personal archives of the Verson family, partially housed in the villa.
